From coast-to-coast the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation is committed to championing literacy and getting books into the hands of kids. This year, thousands of Canadian students at 50 schools will have access to essential literacy support through a record $1.8 million in funding from our Literacy Fund Grant. To see the impact of this grant for yourself, listen to the stories of students and educators from Gateway Public School, who will receive one of these transformative grants this year.

Helping to revitalize school libraries across Canada

Rutherford Elementary
Nanaimo, British Columbia
“Our library is a central resource at the hub of the school, where students gather, explore, and connect. While it is already a valued space, parts of our collection remain limited. The Literacy Fund Grant will provide an incredible opportunity to expand and enrich our collection, helping us foster a love of reading at our school!”
– Pamela Pinder, Teacher, Rutherford Elementary
Mission Hill Elementary School
Vernon, British Columbia
“Watching students read and listen to texts that represent pieces of themselves – their curiosity, heritage, wonders, and passions – is truly seeing them learn and grow. Access to current, relevant, and intriguing texts in the school library is a game changer for students and teachers.”
– Kelsey Shore, Teacher, Mission Hill Elementary School

École Broxton Park School

“Our school library is more than our bookshelves: it is a safe and welcoming space where our Broxton students discover new ideas, build social understanding and connections, find moments of calm, engage with stories that mirror their experiences, and expand their perspectives and understanding of the world around them.“
